-
As early as you like. Most pregnant people start the process of finding a doula at about 20 weeks, but you can hire a doula right up to when you go into labor!
-
I accept a maximum of only one client due date per month, and no due dates within two weeks of one another. This is to ensure the best chances of attending each birth.
-
Most doulas charge between $800 and $2500 for their services, depending on the scope and breadth of service as well as the doula’s experience. I keep my fees at the low end of this range to ensure access for lower-income clients.
If you decide to retain me as your doula, 25% of your total fee will be due before the first prenatal visit. The remainder will be due at your second prenatal visit. I also offer payment plans if the upfront cost doesn’t work for you.
All of my birth packages include 18 hours of hands-on active labor support. If labor exceeds 18 hours, an additional charge of $50 per hour will apply.
If you cannot afford the fees listed here but you need the services of a doula, please reach out so that I can work with you on a sliding-scale basis or, if I am not available for your due date, help you find a doula that fits your budget. You can see my fees listed on this page.
-
I am not a trained photographer (yet), but I will be happy to snap photos during the birth if you would like me to. I do not charge for this because I cannot guarantee the photos, but I do discuss this during consultations.
-
A doula does not:
perform clinical tasks, such as taking blood pressure, fetal heart check, or vaginal exams. I am there to provide comfort and support.
Make decisions for you.
Speak to hospital staff on your behalf. I will discuss concerns with you and suggest options, as well as encourage you to voice your opinions.
Deliver the baby. If the baby is born on my watch at home, in the car, etc., I or your partner will immediately call your midwife or an ambulance to further assist you. I will not act as a midwife or doctor, but I can help you stay calm and guide you until they come. I am not a trained medical professional.
